  • Now let us suppose someone wanted to get a nice big juicy grant from one of the antismoking funds. And let's say they did a study showing that menthol cigarettes were more heavily advertised and discounted in black neighborhoods than Marlboros.

  • It is always difficult to offer sound criticism of a study without seeing the actual data and the full study itself, but studies like this one suffer a particular sort of weakness that make their results questionable.

  • Watson could be useful as a first step screening/suggestion tool in overworked clinic settings provided it was backed up by a human consult AND that the human consult was educated/trained/smart enough NOT to take its diagnosis as handed down from God without some personal patient evaluation.
